Review by New Mexico State Representative Joe Stell

Dr. Cox has collected some interesting and valuable information in this well researched publication.  It is the most complete collection of historical incidents and facts yet published about the Guadalupe Mountain area.

Dr. Cox skillfully arranges the information he has gathered with the source of his information stated immediately thus departing from the traditional footnote system.

His work brings out to the reader some of the daily problems and challenges of early settlers, their heartaches and joys, indeed their way of life in the trying past. Life for them was not easy, but they survived and prevailed, and helped to make a better community for those of us who followed.

This publication will provide the reader with interesting and entertaining reading as well as a reference to the historical past.

The high quality of the illustrations should also be mentioned. By being able to view a photograph of the person you are reading about increases the quality of Dr. Cox’s work.

For some pleasant reading sit down, prop up your feet, lean back and open the book: The Ghosts of the Guadalupes. You won’t be sorry.
